It's a Snow Day! It's a Snow Day! I am excited and I hope my students are, too, since I have been teasing them with this opportunity since the first day of school. Today I launched our Distance Challenge through the Smithsonian Institute website. If you haven't checked it out, you should. This site has interactive elements to help students learn about lift, weight, thrust, and drag. They can build their own virtual planes and test out different components interactively. Best of all, we will be launching a virtual paper airplane through their Distance Challenge and watching its progress as it lands in countries around the globe. Last year, my students racked up over 400,000 miles and earned a place in the top 10 flights of all time.
